How to wax your snowboard
Materials Needed:
- Snowboard wax (appropriate for temperature conditions)
- Waxing iron
- Plastic scraper
- Brass or nylon brush
- Base cleaner or rubbing alcohol
- Clean cloth
- Workbench or stable surface
- Optionally, a tuning kit with edge tools and a file.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Set Up Your Workspace:
- Choose a well-ventilated area with a stable work surface, preferably indoors. Lay your snowboard on a stable workbench or table.
2. Clean the Base:
- Use a base cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clean the base of your snowboard. Wipe away any dirt or debris with a clean cloth. If you’ve been riding early or spring season you might want to use an “initial brush” really get that dirt out of there.
3. Secure the Snowboard:
- Use bindings or other means to secure the snowboard in place. This ensures stability while waxing.
4. Preheat the Waxing Iron:
- Set the waxing iron to the appropriate temperature for the wax you’re using. Different waxes have different melting points.
5. Apply Wax:
- Hold the wax against the iron and let the melted wax drip onto the base of the snowboard. Create a zigzag pattern along the length of the board.
6. Spread the Wax:
- Use the waxing iron to spread the melted wax evenly across the base. The wax should cover the entire surface.
7. Let it Cool:
- Allow the wax to cool and harden for at least 20-30 minutes. This allows the wax to penetrate the base.
8. Scrape Excess Wax:
- Use a plastic scraper to remove excess wax. Scrape from tip to tail in long, smooth strokes. Apply moderate pressure, and be sure to remove all excess wax.
9. Brush the Base:
- Use a brass or nylon brush to remove any remaining wax particles and to give the base a smooth finish. Brush from tip to tail.
10. Check Edges:
- Inspect the edges of your snowboard. If needed, use edge tools to remove burrs and maintain sharp edges.
You should now be ready to rock
